Important Arrival Reminder

City streets surrounding the parade staging areas will close no later than 7:30 a.m. on July 4.

All parade participants should plan to arrive early and be in their assigned staging area before street closures begin.

Commercial and Primary staging entries must check in at the Pre-Staging Area before moving to their final lineup position.

The parade begins promptly at 8:45 a.m. from University Drive and Ayers Street.

Parade Day Schedule
Time & Activity
6:30 – 8:00 a.m. - Pre-Staging and staging areas open
7:30 a.m. - Entries move into final lineup positions under the direction of parade marshals
7:30 a.m. - Streets surrounding the staging areas close to traffic
8:45 a.m. - Participants should already be in their assigned staging area. Parade begins at University Drive and Ayers Street
9:00 a.m. - First entries arrive in downtown Edmond

Upon arrival, proceed directly to your assigned staging area and look for the feather flag matching the color listed on your lineup document.

Accessing Commercial, Primary & Car Staging Areas
The easiest access to the Commercial, Primary, Car, and Pre-Staging areas is:

Enter from Second Street
-
Travel north on Baumann Avenue
-
Turn west onto Main Street
-
Follow marshal instructions into the appropriate staging area
Please note:
​

Ayers Street and surrounding roads will be closed no later than 7:30 AM.
-
Arriving before 7:30 a.m. is strongly recommended.
Float Preparation & Vehicle Inspections
All float decorating and final preparations should be completed before moving into final lineup positions.
Vehicle inspections may include:

Towing package inspection

Insurance verification
-
General safety inspection
Float Requirements

A functional Class ABC fire extinguisher must be carried on all float entries.
-
Maximum entry height is 13 feet 6 inches.
-
Participants are responsible for the safety and conduct of everyone associated with their entry.
Safety Rules & Parade Regulations
For the safety of participants and spectators, the following are prohibited:
Prohibited Items & Activities

Throwing or distributing candy, flyers, promotional items, or handouts

Water balloons, water guns, cannons, or liquid-discharge devices
-
Fireworks
-
Smoking while on the parade route
-
Alcohol or illegal drugs
-
Political campaigning or advocacy
-
Firearms, except authorized law enforcement or approved historical replicas
Vehicle Operators
Drivers may not:

Use cellular devices while moving
-
Smoke while operating a vehicle
-
Consume beverages while operating a vehicle
Participants
​
-
Follow all directions from parade marshals and public safety personnel.
-
Remain with your entry at all times.
-
Do not leave the parade line to interact with spectators.
-
Do not disembark or dismantle entries until directed by parade officials at the end of the route.
Children, Bikes & Youth Participants
​

Parents or guardians must supervise minor participants.
-
Children under six years of age may not walk the parade route.
-
All bicycle riders must wear an approved bicycle helmet.
-
Helmets are required for all participants under 18 operating bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, or ATVs.
-
Tricycles and skateboards are not permitted.
Equestrian Entries

Horses and animals must remain under the direct control of experienced handlers.
-
Animals may not be left unattended.
-
Animals showing signs of distress or unsafe behavior may be removed from the parade.
-
No hay is permitted in the equestrian staging area.
Parade Route Information
The parade begins at:
University Drive & Ayers Street
The route travels through downtown Edmond before returning to the UCO area.
Parking Restrictions
Vehicles parked along the parade route after 7:00 AM may be towed.
Please park participant and spectator vehicles in designated parking areas away from the parade route.
Weather & Emergency Information
LibertyFest is a rain-or-shine event.
In the event of severe weather or an emergency:

Follow instructions from parade officials, law enforcement, and emergency personnel.

Monitor announcements from parade marshals.
-
Call 911 for emergencies requiring immediate assistance.

Check-In Procedures
Most Staging Areas
Participants assigned to VIP, Responders, Bands, Scouts, Equestrian, Shriners, Sheriff, Cars, and Bikes will check in directly within their assigned staging area.
Look for the staging marshals and the colored feather flag identifying your area.
Commercial and Primary Staging Areas
Participants assigned to the Commercial or Primary staging areas must first report to the Pre-Staging Area for check-in.
After check-in, parade marshals will direct entries to their final lineup position.
Entry Numbers
Entry numbers will be provided by staging marshals and should be displayed on the left front side of the lead vehicle or unit.
